وقال دين سميث في تصريحات نشرتها شبكة “بي بي سي” العالمية: “كانت مباراة محبطة للغاية من وجهة نظرنا، لقد حصلنا على أفضل الفرص في الشوط الأول ثم استقبلنا هدفًا”.

وأضاف: “لا أتذكر أن حارسنا كان يعمل طوال المباراة، لقد استقبلنا هدفًا سيئًا بعدم مراقبة لاعبهم ديفيد، كان هدفًا ضعيفًا حقًا”.

وواصل: “كنا مسيطرين في المباراة وبدأنا الشوط الثاني بشكل جيد، قمنا بتحريك الكرة بشكل أسرع، كان التغيير الكبير في المباراة تمثل في طرد لاعب الخصم، ولكن لم نستفد من ذلك بشكل أكبر”.

واستكمل: “كان علينا ألا نترك المباراة بدون أي نقاط بسبب هدف ضعيف، بدا الأمر وكأننا ألقينا بالنقاط بعيدًا”.

Eddie Nketiah has taken well to life at Leeds so far.

In his first four games in all competitions, he has scored three goals, which is all you can ask for from your striker. He has also taken advantage of the starts offered by Marcelo Bielsa, scoring in both games when he was included from the beginning in the Carabao Cup.

However, he is yet to start in the Championship and has only featured twice in the league. He did score the winner against Brentford after being introduced from the bench, but clearly his manager at Elland Road does not feel he is yet ready to lead the line.

That responsibility has been handed to Patrick Bamford and as such, that is who Nketiah will need to dislodge. So far this term, Bamford has hit the ground running, bagging four goals in six starts for the Yorkshire side as well as one assist. He has taken 3.7 shots a game.

Whilst it is hard to take too much from this season’s 58 minutes he has played, we can look at the England U21 international’s performances in the Europa League last season, where he started two matches. Across those two games, he had two shots per match, but averaged 4.5 dribbles.

That doesn’t appear to be something Bielsa will want too much of. The most frequent dribblers for the Whites this term are Jack Harrison and Pablo Hernandez, with just two each a match. Instead, Leeds have averaged 61.2% possession. That does not leave too much space for solo runs, but rather requires players to move the ball on quickly.

On the other hand, Bamford has not completed a single take-on in those six games, which is obviously lower than Nketiah’s 0.3 this term despite him not yet starting a league game. To feature more frequently this term, this is something that he will have to remove from his game. Should he do so, we can expect to see him more often at Elland Road.

كشفت تقارير صحفية إيطالية عن الوجهة الأقرب، للدولي الإيطالي، جيانلويجي دوناروما، حارس مرمى فريق اي سي ميلان، في ظل ارتباطه بإمكانية الرحيل عن صفوف الروسونيري بنهاية الموسم الجاري.

دوناروما صاحب الـ21 عامًا، لديه عقد مع النادي اللومباردي، ينتهي بنهاية الموسم الجاري 2020/2021، في الثلاثين من يونيو 2021.

ميلان يرغب في تمديد عقد دوناروما ولكن النادي لم يتمكن من التوصل إلى اتفاق مع اللاعب ووكيل أعماله بسبب الراتب.

ويتواجد دوناروما على رادار أكثر من نادٍ أوروبي، إذ يرغب باريس سان جيرمان الفرنسي، إلى جانب مانشستر يونايتد ومانشستر سيتي الإنجليزيان في ضمه.

وبحسب شبكة “توتو ميركاتو” الإيطالية، فإن باريس سان جيرمان هو الأقرب لضم دوناروما في الصيف المقبل.

وأوضحت الشبكة أنّ المسؤولين في سان جيرمان، يرغبون في ضم دوناروما، حتى يكون خليفة الكوستاريكي كيلور نافاس داخل “حديقة الأمراء”.

وقالت الشبكة إنّ النادي الباريسي، سيُلبي المطالب المادية للحارس صاحب الـ”21″ عامًا، في ظل رغبته في الحصول على 10 ملايين يورو في الموسم الواحد.

دوناروما خاض هذا الموسم مع ميلان في الدوري الإيطالي 33 مباراة، وتلقت شباكه 41 هدفًا، ونجح في الخروج بشباكٍ نظيفة في تسع لقاءات.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, Douglas Costa’s agent has confirmed Manchester United’s attempts to sign Juventus star Douglas Costa this summer were rebuffed.

What’s the word?

The Brazil international was linked with a move to Old Trafford amid speculation linking Romelu Lukaku with a transfer to Turin.

Reports had suggested Costa could be used as part of the deal to lure the striker to Italy, but a move failed to materialise and Lukaku ended up joining Inter. Now, the Brazilian’s agent, Giovanni Branchini, has confirmed the Red Devils made a concerted effort to bring the winger to Old Trafford, but were met with stiff resistance from the Juventus management.

He said: “I sincerely say that Allegri and Sarri have never thought of letting him go. The interest of Manchester United was strong, a club that has always been interested in the Brazilian. It was not the only club but in England it was certainly the most active team on the trail of Douglas Costa.

“Douglas has had countless health problems. Last season he was very often injured. He is wanting to recover with great professionalism after standing still. Juventus never intended to sell him despite the big pressure from United.

“He loves Juventus but is able to adapt to every reality. Premier League is a beautiful championship but for now United have failed in all their attempts to convince Juventus to sell him. The player remained in Turin and is a champion.”

A sprinkle of stardust

Make no mistake, Costa would have added some real dynamism to United’s attack. Aside from the 4-0 crushing of Chelsea in their opening game of the Premier League season, the Red Devils have looked relatively toothless going forward. In their last outing against Southampton, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side laboured to a 1-1 draw and essentially resorted to just chucking balls into the box.

Having Costa in their ranks would have given them an explosive winger with a sense of trickery and directness that is a step above Daniel James, for all the youngster’s qualities.

In just his two Serie A appearances this season, the 28-year-old has picked up two assists, and has averaged an impressive 2 shots, 2.5 key passes and 2.5 dribbles per game. The Brazilian can change the tempo of the game with his searing pace, and United already look like they’re missing someone who can do exactly that.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Tony Cascarino has insisted Manchester City star Raheem Sterling is better than Neymar and is on course to win the Ballon d’Or in the future.

What did he say?

The England international had a barn-storming season last year at the Etihad, registering 25 goals and 18 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions.

The start to this campaign has been no different, with Sterling bagging himself a hat-trick in the opening game win over West Ham, and scoring a total of five Premier League goals in four games.

Now, Cascarino has revealed the 24-year-old is amongst the five best players in the world, and is already better than PSG superstar Neymar.

He said: “I would definitely argue he’s in the top five players in the world. If you were to put him on the market tomorrow, Man City wouldn’t take £150m for him. If he continues to improve, he’ll become the first or second (best player in the world) and probably win the Ballon d’Or along the way.

“Who would you rather have: Neymar or Sterling? I’d have Sterling as a player. Try to ignore the antics that have gone on with Neymar off the field, I actually think Sterling’s better on the field. His numbers are better and he’s playing in a better team. I’ve seen Neymar do things that no other footballer can do in the game, like a ‘Harlem Globetrotter’ footballer. But if you want a player to be brilliant for the team and score goals at the rate Neymar can, Sterling’s your man.”

Steady on Tony

In a world where Ousmane Dembele can fetch well over £100m, then Sterling perhaps is worth £150m. But is he in the top five players in the world? The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Eden Hazard, Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and maybe even teammate Kevin De Bruyne, just to name a few, would all have their disagreements with that.

But Sterling has improved his game no-end since really bursting on to the scene with Liverpool. His work under Pep Guardiola has seen him develop dramatically, and his goal-scoring record is something to behold. The five-yard tap-ins he is becoming renowned for show someone who is continuing to learn and hone his craft. They are not a sign of luck, but a sign of a player with top-notch positioning determined to do one thing and one thing only – score goals.

However, if he is to count himself amongst the world’s elite, then he will have to do it over a consistent period of time. Keep firing in the goals on a regular basis for both club and country, and very few will be able to argue against the England international’s place in the top five.

Manchester City defender John Stones picked up an injury in training ahead of their Champions League clash against Shakhtar Donetsk and is expected to miss at least four weeks, according to The Mirror.

The impending absence of the England international leaves Nicolas Otamendi as the only senior natural centre-back in Pep Guardiola’s squad, with Aymeric Laporte likely to be out for six months following a serious knee injury, as reported by The Guardian.

Even before news of Stones’ injury broke, the Daily Mail claimed that Guardiola had been planning to use Fernandinho at centre-back against Shakhtar Donetsk, a scenario that now looks even more likely with Stones ruled out.

Another option for the Manchester City manager is 18-year-old Eric Garcia, a centre-back from the under-23 squad who made three appearances for the senior side in the Carabao Cup last season and was on the bench for the Community Shield last month. [via TransferMarkt.co.uk]

وأشار صالح إلى أنه تم مناقشة خالد بيبو، رئيس قطاع الناشئين، في احتياجات جميع الفرق التي تشارك في بطولات الجمهورية التابعة لاتحاد كرة القدم، وبحث التدعيمات اللازمة لبعض الفرق بسبب بعض النواقص الخاصة بإصابات اللاعبين أو الظروف التدريبية المختلفة، وتم تكليف فتحي مبروك، مدير إدارة اكتشاف المواهب، بترشيح عناصر جديدة لمختلف الفرق.

وخلال الاجتماع تم استعراض موقف جميع فرق الناشئين التي يتصدر أغلبها المسابقات التي تشارك فيها، كما تم استعراض الأسماء البارزة من اللاعبين الذين قد يتم تصعيدهم للفريق الأول لوضعهم تحت الملاحظة، من أجل تكوين صورة كاملة عنهم من الناحية الفنية والبدنية والسلوكية، وتقديم كافة المعلومات عنهم للفريق الأول.

وأكد رئيس لجنة التخطيط أنه تم مناقشة عبد المنعم شطة أيضًا في افتتاح فروع جديدة للأكاديميات بمناطق جديدة، وما يتطلب ذلك من ملاعب وأجهزة تدريبية وملابس، مؤكدًا أن هناك خطة لافتتاح أكاديميات جديدة في العديد من المناطق في مصر، والأمور تسير بشكل جيد.

Having sold Romelu Lukaku to Inter and Alexis Sanchez to the Nerazzurri on a season-long loan, it was painfully obvious Manchester United landed themselves in a bit of a pickle.

The Red Devils – who have historically boasted some of the greatest strike-forces in Premier League history – headed into the current campaign with just Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood as their sole options up front.

A 4-0 demolition job over Chelsea in the opening game of the season delivered a rosier tint on the club’s outlook. However, a series of stuttering results and injuries have since painted a rather bleaker picture. The only real silver lining for United so far? The incredible success story of summer signing Daniel James. And he could well turn out to be the answer to United’s big question too.

On the chalkboard

The Welsh wizard has been utilised from the left-hand side, and to good effect too. The former Swansea ace has cut on to his stronger right-foot and terrorised opposition defenders with his directness – on average this season, James has been fouled 2.3 times per game.

Against West Ham on Saturday, Rashford was forced off with a suspected groin injury mid-way through the second-half, and that prompted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to bring on Jesse Lingard. Whilst the England international came on to play the centre-forward role, there was one highlight that should give the United boss some food for thought.

James found himself in the number nine position, and Lingard slipped a ball in behind the Hammers defence. The former showed an incredible turn of pace to try and latch on to it, but was denied by a sprawling Lukasz Fabianski. That phase of play hinted the winger could well be reinvented as a central striker over the coming weeks and months.

Added to his three goals already for the club, the 21-year-old averages 2.3 shots per game, and has shown that he has the willingness to always make runs in behind – look at his goal against Chelsea for instance. Make no mistake, United’s injury problems have highlighted the kind of crisis they have up front. A tactical switch for James could well be the answer for the short-term.
