Earlier this week, Phil Hay provided a rather alarming update about Leeds United’s FFP situation as he revealed that the Whites were cutting it fine in terms of their spending limit.

However, there could be a way around it as Phil Hay believes that there is a solution that makes sense.

What’s been said then?

The journalist was hosting a Q&A session on The Athletic, and one fan suggested a way in which United could get around FFP.

“On your point above about FFP, given that Phillips (and Bielsa) will almost certainly be off in summer anyway if we don’t go up, why doesn’t Radz go for it and get Bowen/Gayle, knowing we’ve got £25m+ coming in regardless.” One fan asked.

Hay believes that this is a good idea, and he suggested that it could be implemented.

“That could be done. It’s one way to operate. And in some ways, it makes sense.” Hay replied.

Makes the world of sense

The more you think about this strategy, the more it actually does make sense.

We did a piece earlier in the week saying that this season is all or nothing for Leeds after Hay predicted a mass exodus if they don’t go up, so Leeds should give it their all to make sure they are in the top-flight next season.

Yes, signing a big name such as the suggested moves for Jarrod Bowen or Dwight Gayle would put Leeds over their FFP limit, but that wouldn’t matter as long as they recouped that before the end of the financial year. The potential sale of Kalvin Phillips would allow them to do just that as he’s reportedly valued by Leeds at £30m.

Granted, if Leeds do this and they don’t go up, it will leave them in a poor position at the start of next season, but if Bielsa goes because of their failure, the Whites are likely to regress no matter what.

Meanwhile, one hurdle may be denying Leeds the chance to sign Matej Vydra, but they shouldn’t let that stop them.

Tottenham Hotspur’s latest Premier League bout ended in a 3-2 victory over Bournemouth in a game that was as entertaining as it was chaotic.

But with the team scoring ten goals in his first three games in charge, Jose Mourinho’s era is looking promising if anything else.

Still, for many of Spurs’ fans, Dele Alli’s goal against Bournemouth was one of the highlights of the whole clash as the young Englishman combined with Toby Alderweireld, and the star duo truly impressed many with their brilliant piece of skill.

Some of the fans were simply drooling over the goal, calling it “brilliant”, “outstanding” and showering both players with praise and comparing Alli’s strike to that of Fernando Torres’ back in the day.

But interestingly enough, Alderweireld’s piece of skill was equally impressive, if not more so to many of the fans commenting on Twitter. Some were comparing his pass to Andrea Pirlo’s technique and others were saying how there’s no one better at that in the whole league.

And they were not wrong as Alderweireld averaged 88.5% passing accuracy back in 2018/19 for Spurs and with 0.5 key passes per game – which is an improvement on his 0.2 last season – he already has two assists to his name in the ongoing campaign.

No one in the league among centre-backs has more than two at this point in time, and Alderweireld is also the third centre-back with the most total passes as well.

Finally, some fans were quick to notice that Alli might finally be returning back to his good old ways. This was a reference on his slight dip in form, seeing how the 23-year-old has now already bagged four goals in seven games and also one in the Champions League, while he only managed four in the entire 2018/19 Premier League campaign.

The Sun is reporting that West Ham are interested in Bournemouth’s out-of-favour goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

What’s the story?

The Hammers are currently missing their first-choice shot-stopper Lukasz Fabianski. As it stands, it is expected that the Poland international will not be available until the New Year.

In the next transfer window, it is being said that Manuel Pellegrini wants the former Chelsea man to provide back-up to – and challenge – the 34-year-old number one. His current loan spell with Qarabag will end on December 31st, meaning that he will then be able to move once again, whether it be on a temporary or permanent basis.

Too error-prone

The loss of Fabianski has been felt by the London outfit. In the seven matches he played before his injury in the league, his team lost just one match, with them conceding eight goals and getting their hands on three clean sheets. In the following eight matches, they have won just once, losing six times and shipping 16 strikes.

Spain goalkeeper Roberto was introduced, and he has not done well at all. Tony Cascarino has even called him the “worst goalkeeper in Premier League history”. He has been at fault for at least two goals already this campaign, and he has started just six matches. It was no surprise to see him lose his place to David Martin against Chelsea.

It makes sense, therefore, that a new goalkeeper would be targeted but, considering that Roberto’s mistakes have been his undoing, signing Begovic would make no sense. Since the recording of such data began, the 32-year-old Bosnia international has been at fault for no less than 27 goals, which is at least three more than the next man on the list. In his last five seasons, he has not managed to record a save ratio of at least 70% even once. That number was even 55.7% last term, a campaign in which he started 24 matches.

Since being introduced, Martin appears to be doing well. He has managed an average save percentage of 84.6% in the two matches in which he has been included in the starting XI to date, and the victory at Stamford Bridge was the Irons’ first since Fabianski has been out of action.

Whilst Roberto may not be up to the required standard, the former Liverpool man has grasped the opportunity to shine with both hands. Begovic’s recent history suggests his best years are behind him. As such, Martin should be the one to take up the position as first alternative to the former Arsenal man.

يستعد ماسمليانو أليجري لإجراء تعديل على خطة يوفنتوس بعد رحيل كريستيانو رونالدو إلى مانشستر يونايتد الإنجليزي.

يوفنتوس لا بد أن يتغير بعد خروج هدافه، الذي ساهم بـ36 هدفًا في 44 مباراة رسمية الموسم الماضي، 29 منها في 33 مباراة بالدوري الإيطالي.

من الصعب على أليجري إجراء الكثير من التجارب التكتيكية خلال فترة التوقف الدولي، حيث إن لديه عدد قليل جدًا من لاعبي الفريق في التدريب في الوقت الحالي.

وفقًا لـ “كوريري ديلو سبورت”، فإن أليجري مدرب يوفنتوس يميل إلى نقل اليوفي إلى تشكيل 4-4-2، ولكن ليس مع ألفارو كواحد من المهاجمين.

O técnico do Botafogo, Renato Paiva, apesar de ter considerado desnecessário o cartão recebido diante do time colchonero, procurou aliviar o jogador:

– Em relação ao (segundo cartão do) Gregore, acontece. São só dois cartões e é muito fácil um jogador ficar fora dos jogos. Renato Paiva também evitou lamentar a ausência do volante titular, demonstrando confiança no substituto, cujo nome ainda não anunciou:

– O Gregore sabe da sua importância, mas também sabe do grupo que tem. O jogador que entrar vai substituí-lo muitíssimo bem, não tenho dúvidas. Digo sempre o mesmo: não choro em cima de ausências. Vamos entrar com 11 jogadores e tenho muita confiança nos que aqui estão – afirmou Renato Paiva.

Gregore havia levado o primeiro cartão amarelo na vitória por 1 a 0 sobre o PSG, pela segunda rodada do grupo, quinta-feira (19). De acordo com o regulamento da Copa do Mundo de Clubes, dois cartões amarelos já são suficientes para deixar o jogador fora da próxima partida. Os cartões somente serão zerados após as quartas de final, para que nenhuma equipe entre desfalcada por suspensão na final do torneio.
