What’s the word?

According to The Sun, the Yorkshire giants will reignite their interest in Rangers star Ryan Kent if Marcelo Bielsa cannot secure his ‘No.1’ target Dan James on loan from Manchester United.

They claim that the Argentine wants to add a new winger as well as another midfielder to his squad before Monday’s transfer deadline.

However, a move for the Welshman seems slim and heavily depends on whether or not the Red Devils can land Jadon Sancho, so attentions could soon turn back to Scotland.

The report suggests it could take £10m to £15m to land Kent whilst Football Insider have previously highlighted that he has a release clause of £20m.

Bielsa’s dream?

Perhaps the Whites should just launch a charge at the Rangers sensation instead as he has all the attributes to be the perfect winger under Bielsa – young, hungry and willing to develop.

Last season at Ibrox, Kent bagged eight goals and delivered four assists and he’s continued his hot form into this campaign. He’s scored five and assisted five whilst averaging 3.6 shots, 2.8 dribbles and 2.7 key passes per game in the SPFL, via WhoScored.

That’s 1.3 key passes more than Patrick Bamford and one key pass more than Jack Harrison in the Premier League this term.

Kent has been likened to both Sadio Mane by former Leeds manager Gordon Strachan as well as Eden Hazard by old teammate Kyle Lafferty, the 33-year-old particularly waxing lyrical about his talents, he said:

“He has everything in his locker. Ryan’s in the top three of the best I’ve played with and I’ve had Dybala and Belotti as team-mates. I’m more than happy to say that as he provides something special. It’s about how he takes the ball, how he runs with it and I’ve seen him absolutely destroy defenders. Ryan’s a match-winner.”

Whether it’s £10m, £15m or £20m, Victor Orta and Andrea Radrizzani would be gifting their manager an absolute weapon on the wings and it’s a value that they can definitely afford.

It may only be a few games into the new Premier League season, but Aston Villa currently find themselves second in the table and with a game in hand on table-topping Everton.

To put it simply, you just couldn’t have scripted a better start for Dean Smith’s side. And as if to underline that point, their remarkable, and truly historic, 7-2 dismantling of reigning champions Liverpool on Sunday night, just made a mockery of the fact that they survived relegation by the skin of their teeth on the final day of last season.

The Villa boss deserves enormous credit for the work he has done, not only for staying up last season or their incredible beginning to this one, but also for getting them promoted in the first place. But whilst he’s someone who of course is always going to be in the public eye, there’s another key man behind the scenes who needs just as much of that love: Johan Lange.

Recruited from FC Copenhagen earlier in the summer to become Villa’s new sporting director, and thus replacing Jesus Garcia Pitarch, Lange had the unenviable task of trying to ensure the Midlands club didn’t just repeat the same mistakes of the 2019 summer transfer window, but also move the team forward.

Villa splashed the cash last summer in the hope of really taking the Premier League by storm, but in end, it was really hit and miss. Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa have formed a rock-solid partnership at the back, but then there were some absolute duds in there too, not least Jota, who left the club just a year after joining.

This summer has seen Villa be far more co-ordinated, structured, and ruthless about their transfer planning and negotiations. Areas that needed strengthening were quickly identified, and reinforced, whilst players who weren’t cutting it – like Jota for example – were moved out with no room for sentiment.

Villa have made five new signings in this transfer window, and all of them have already had moments of brilliance. Emiliano Martinez with a penalty save on his debut. Ollie Watkins with the perfect hat-trick against Liverpool. Even Ross Barkley getting in on the act on his debut too. Things have been far smoother sailing at Villa Park, and their dealings in the market have a lot to do with Lange.

So whilst Smith will rightly get most of the praise, some love needs to be shared with Lange too.

Um amistoso no dia 8 de dezembro vai reunir personalidades do esporte, amadores e jovens no Maracanã. Trata-se do Torneio Gol de Letra, maior campeonato social corporativo do Brasil e realizado pela Fundação Gol de Letra. Em sua 9ª edição no Rio de Janeiro, a iniciativa gera engajamento entre funcionários das empresas apoiadoras e arrecada fundos que viabilizam os projetos da instituição.

Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has some big decisions to make with no fewer than seven players out of contract at the end of the campaign.

One of which is former Birmingham City striker Greg Stewart, who was arguably never going to be the first name on the team sheet, but the 30-year-old has been somewhat of a surprise package at the club he has supported since he was a boy.

After arriving at Ibrox from Birmingham in 2019 as a free agent, Stewart signed a two-year-deal with Rangers, with wages which are reportedly worth £6,200-per-week.

Last term, the Scottish centre-forward played 16 games in the Scottish Premiership, with the majority of his appearances coming from the bench, whilst he scored three goals and supplied three assists, via Transfermarkt.

Stewart has dropped down to the bottom of the pecking order after the arrivals of Ianis Hagi, Cedric Itten and Kemar Roofe in the summer transfer window, as he has been restricted to only three appearances this season so far.

It’s worth remembering that he provided an assist in the 5-0 win over Lincoln Red Imps in the Europa League qualifying round last month.

Since then, Stewart has hardly featured at all, whilst he was axed from the Scottish Premiership squad altogether for three out of the Gers’ past four games.

Quite why former director of football Mark Allen decided to give him a deal we will probably never understand, as Jermain Defoe hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down anytime soon.

In fact, it’s fair to say that Stewart hasn’t really impressed at this level since he left the Blues, whilst some eyebrows were raised when he joined the Ibrox outfit in the first place. And Kris Commons has recently described him as an “outcast” which is a pretty accurate assessment.

The veteran actually ranks as the second-worst amongst the rest of the Rangers squad, as he has received a rating of 6.13 – to put that into context, only George Edmundson has averaged a lower rating, via WhoScored.

Let’s face it, Steven Gerrard is hardly short of options, especially when you consider the fact that Roofe has recently recovered from injury as well. If the Light Blues want to keep him for the rest of the season, fair enough. But it would be an inexcusable error from Ross Wilson if he gives him a new deal. Get him gone, Gers.

أدلى لاعب فريق برشلونة سيرجيو أجويرو بأول تعليق له بعد المشكلة الصحية التي تعرض لها هذا الأسبوع، والتي سيغيب بسببها عن الملاعب لفترة طويلة.

ولم يتمكن أجويرو من استكمال مباراة السبت الماضي بين فريقي برشلونة وديبورتيفو ألافيس في بطولة الدوري الإسباني، حيث شعر بضيق في التنفس.

وخضع أجويرو لفحص طبي في المستشفى، حيث تبين أنه يعاني من مشكلة في التنفس وعدم انتظام ضربات القلب.

وأصدر برشلونة مساء اليوم الإثنين بيانًا رسميًا أوضح من خلاله أن أجويرو سيغيب عن الملاعب نحو ثلاثة أشهر.

من جانبه، كتب أجويرو عبر حسابه الرسمي بموقع “تويتر”: “أنا بخير وفي حالة معنوية جيدة لمواجهة عملية التعافي”.

Having enjoyed an impressive start to the new Premier League season, Aston Villa find themselves eighth in the table with a game in hand on all of  the teams above them.

Their momentum has however, stalled somewhat, with back-to-back defeats to newly-promoted Leeds, and then Southampton, wrecking their 100% start to the campaign.

On Sunday, they face another tough task, when they travel to the Emirates to take on Arsenal. The Gunners of course coming off the back of a fine 1-o win over rivals Manchester United last Sunday.

And whilst star man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the winning goal via the penalty spot, Dean Smith and Villa must be more wary of one of his teammates: Thomas Partey.

The Ghana international, who arrived in the summer from Atletico Madrid, has already established himself as a key part of Mikel Arteta’s side in the early weeks of his Arsenal career.

His performance at Old Trafford against United earned him rave reviews, with Paul Scholes calling him “brilliant”, and several Sky Sports pundits lauding how he has provided the Gunners with some much-needed ingredients in the middle of the park.

In fact, Villa icon George Boateng has also previously gone on record to hail Partey, saying: “Partey has been such an unbelievable pioneer in European football as he has put Ghana on the map. When I watched that Liverpool vs Atletico game in the Champions League I thought he was outstanding. You can put any player beside him and that player will excel.”

Villa of course already have recent experience of beating Arsenal, clinching an important 1-0 win over them at Villa Park in the penultimate game of the Premier League season in the previous campaign.

If they are to do something similar, this time at the Emirates, then it’s important Smith finds a way to combat Arsenal’s newest midfield enforcer. If he can do that, then their chances of securing another priceless result, will go up considerably.

O Botafogo encaminhou a contratação do volante Bruno Silva, de 29 anos. O jogador vai assinar vínculo com o Glorioso por um ano e pode se apresentar ao clube já nesta segunda-feira, na reapresentação do elenco alvinegro para o início da pré-temporada.

Antes mesmo da saída de Willian Arão, o Botafogo já buscava outro volante. Bruno Silva disputou as duas últimas temporadas na Chapecoense, clube pelo qual se destacou em 2014. Em 2015, porém, ele jogou pouco. Ele tem contrato com a Ponte Preta até 2016, mas o negócio com o Botafogo já é dado como muito bem encaminhado.

Bruno Silva também tem passagens por clubes como Avaí, Ponte Preta e Bahia. Ele foi revelado pelo Vila Nova de Minas Gerais.

Além de encaminhar a contratação de Bruno Silva, o Botafogo já acertou com o zagueiro Joel Carli, os meias Damián Lizio e Gervasio Núñez, o lateral-esquerdo Diogo Barbosa e o zagueiro Emerson. O clube espera a liberação da Federação de Futebol do Equador para anunciar o volante Pedro Larrea. O Glorioso também negociações avançadas com o lateral-esquerdo Dener Assunção, mas depende da liberação do Coritiba.
