The Newcastle Consortium Supporters Ltd (NCSL) have dropped a big takeover claim after Jamie Reuben ‘liked’ one of their latest Twitter posts.

Jamie is one half of the Reuben brothers who were part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) group looking to take over at St. James’ Park with their £300m deal with Mike Ashley.

That bid has since been rejected by the Premier League, leading the NCSL to use their social media platform to try and get it back on track.

They did this by sharing a copy of the letter that they sent to the Prime Minister Boris Johnson asking for some more answers and some clarity as to why exactly the proposed takeover of the Tyneside club  failed, and since then, the NCSL have tweeted that Reuben had ‘liked’ their post, adding:

“We can’t wait until these people are installed into our club when the takeover completes!”

Can the Newcastle takeover be revived?

It is a pretty big statement for the NCSL to make as they seem confident that the takeover in the North East will eventually be completed, as there are still a few issues that need to be sorted out in order for that to happen.

An arbitration hearing between the Magpies and the Premier League is likely to be needed in front of a judge in order to settle their legal disputes, while the KSA summit in just a couple of days may sort out the political disputes between the Saudis and their Gulf neighbours in Qatar.

نيوكاسل يونايتد، مع مخاوفه الدفاعية، يسعى للتعاقد مع فيليبس من ليفربول، حيث يحتل الفريق المركز الأخير بجدول ترتيب الدوري الإنجليزي، بدون تحقيق أي فوز حتى الآن، بعدما استقبلت شباكهم 30 هدفا في 14 مباراة.

صحيفة “ديلي ستار” الإنجليزية، أكدت بأن فيليبس على رادار نيوكاسل، خاصة وأنه كان من ضمن الأساسيين في ليفربول خلال الموسم الماضي، بسبب الإصابات التي عانى منها الريدز على الجانب الدفاعي، ولعب 20 مباراة في جميع المسابقات.

وسيرصد نيوكاسل الذي يخضع للمُلاك السعوديين، حوالي 12 مليون يورو لضم المدافع صاحب الـ24 عامًا.

وأشارت التقارير إلى أن نيوكاسل سيسعى لجلب فيليبس إلى سانت جيمس بارك مع وعد بوقت أطول للعب، في ظل ابتعاده عن خطط يورجن كلوب.

Tottenham Hotspur star Serge Aurier may have surprisingly found himself on the scoresheet up at Bramall Lane this afternoon, but he was still disappointing on the whole.

Jose Mourinho’s side romped to a 3-1 victory over Sheffield United to move back into a top-four place in the Premier League with Harry Kane and Tanguy Ndombele also grabbing goals apiece.

The Ivorian right-back headed home a Heung-min Son corner inside the opening five minutes, though when delving into the numbers, they may tell a different story as to how he performed.

In the past, Aurier has often been lambasted as a “liability” and had his defending described as a “madness,” and we saw small glimpses of that in a performance that’ll have had Jose Mourinho feeling more angry than pleased.

The 28-year-old was particularly wasteful in possession with the few touches (53) he had as he lost the ball a total of 14 times, meaning he handed it back to the Blades once every four times he had it, via SofaScore.

By comparison, Eric Dier lost possession more times (16) but as he recorded a whopping 97 touches, it meant he only lost the ball once every six touches, which is far better than Aurier.

The Englishman took a lot of flak on Twitter because of his display – after all, Spurs did let the Premier League’s rock-bottom side score an easy goal in the second half.

One supporter claimed that Dier was their main problem at the back, whilst another slammed his inability to jump in the air. Some even believed the 27-year-old was at fault for the Blades goal.

However, Aurier was far worse and was rather lucky that his defending didn’t cost his side more. Indeed, he was the only Spurs player who recorded an error that led to a shot – had the attempt been better, then that could’ve quite easily been another goal.

The £18m-rated defender, who earns a reported £120k-per-week in N17, also recorded the joint-fewest clearances (two) and tackles (one) of any visiting defender, meaning he wasn’t strong defensively, especially as he’s averaged a massive 3.3 tackles and 2.9 clearances per game this term, per WhoScored.

SofaScore also graded Aurier (6.9) a lower rating than Dier (7.1), which only further proves that he was the more suspect of the two players.

The Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick was particularly scathing over his crossing too, he wrote in his post-match ratings: “His crossing, which was so good against Fulham, was inconsistent.”

Indeed, Aurier made only 71% of his passes and also failed to pull of a single successful dribble, thus finding it hard to contribute further up the field.

He might well have scored the opener, but aside from that, the former PSG man was ineffective in a display that ultimately let Mourinho down.

– Treinador de futebol não pode sentir pressão. Tem que trabalhar e buscar o resultado. Você não pode se influenciar com isso. Trabalhar para ter uma sequência de vitórias e, com isso, a pressão diminuir – disse Baptista em sua última coletiva, depois do empate contra o Madureira.

Entretanto, esta sequência precisa vir o mais rápido possível. Desde que chegou ao clube, Baptista não conseguiu vencer dois jogos seguidos. Em 22 jogos, soma seis vitórias, cinco empates e 11 derrotas. Seu aproveitamento é de quase 35%. Muito pouco para um clube que se reforçou forte e almeja voos mais altos na temporada.

Elenco fechado com o treinador
​Se o nome de Baptista encontra resistência na diretoria do Flu, não se pode dizer o mesmo dentro das quatro linhas. Querido pelos jogadores e com a confiança do capitão Fred, o treinador recebe constantemente o apoio do elenco. O zagueiro Henrique, que chegou ao clube no começo do ano, foi o último a se manifestar a favor do comandante:

In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, former Hull City midfielder Dean Windass has been discussing Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, after he has been linked with the Chelsea job in recent weeks.

After an impressive start to the season, Chelsea have endured a dreadful run of form recently, which has seen them drop to ninth position in the Premier League table.

Unsurprisingly, it has been suggested that manager Frank Lampard is close to losing his job at Stamford Bridge, with Hasenhuttl tipped as one possible successor with the London club.

The Austrian manager has had a great turnaround with Southampton over the past 18 months, turning them into top-six contenders after it looked as if they were set for a relegation battle in the first half of last season.

Here’s what Windass had to say about the chances of Chelsea hiring Hasenhuttl when speaking exclusively to FFC:

“I can’t see him going to Chelsea. I can’t see Chelsea getting rid of Frank this season, or next season. I think when the supporters are back, then there’s a different bearing on football, there’s a different bearing on life.

“It’s amazing that the Southampton manager, last year. was probably the favourite to get the sack and now you’re talking about him managing in the top-four. What an unbelievable job by the way. They do actually remind me of Liverpool now in the sense of the way they press, the energy, the pace and that they’ve got an out-and-out centre-forward.

“Will he get another job? If they finish in the top-four this season, certainly. If the Southampton manager gets into the top-four, he will have a job for life, wherever he wants.”

Windass certainly feels that if the Saints continue to impress, then Hasenhuttl could get a job wherever he wants in the future.

However, he feels that Chelsea will stick with Lampard despite their recent results, so perhaps the Austrian won’t be moving to Stamford Bridge anytime soon.

Such a move would represent an opportunity for the Southampton manager to be reunited with Timo Werner, who he worked with at RB Leipzig, as well as some world-class players, so if Chelsea do end up making an approach, it may be difficult to convince him to stay with the South Coast club.

Os jogadores do Fluminense se reapresentaram na tarde desta sexta-feira, após a vitória, por 4 a 3, sobre o Cruzeiro, em Belo Horizonte, na última quarta. Apenas os atletas que não iniciaram a partida contra a Raposa estiveram em campo. Os titulares realizaram um trabalho na academia. As exceções foram Gustavo Scarpa e Marcos Vinicius. Ambos participaram do treino tático. O primeiro deixou o confronto no Mineirão no intervalo. Já o camisa 35 foi substituído durante a etapa final. Fred, que não atuou por estar suspenso na Primeira Liga, também treinou normalmente.

Eduardo Baptista comandou uma atividade de ataque contra defesa, que ocorria simultaneamente com dois grupos em cada lado do gramado. Na sequência, promoveu um “mini-coletivo” em metade do campo e com apenas um goleiro.

O Tricolor volta a treinar na manhã deste sábado na Urca. Em seguida, a delegação viaja para Brasília, onde o Fluminense faz o clássico com o Flamengo, pelo Campeonato Carioca.

In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, former Newcastle United midfielder Rob Lee believes that Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard faces a fight to re-sign reported target Billy Gilmour from Chelsea.

The former Rangers youth prospect signed his first professional contract with the London club in 2018 and has gone on to make 17 appearances across all competitions, per Transfermarkt.

According to The Telegraph, the 19-year-old is expected to leave Stamford Bridge on loan for the remainder of the season to improve his chances of playing for Scotland at Euro 2020.

However, Lee has questioned whether Steven Gerrard’s side need to sign the midfielder. The Ibrox boss is currently blessed with a wealth of options in the midfield, including veteran stalwart Steven Davis, Ryan Jack and Bongani Zungu.

He told FFC:

“I think a lot of clubs will look at Billy Gilmour on loan. I think he’s been outstanding. Listen, small in stature, but I haven’t seen him get bullied, he just gets it, passes it, keeps it moving, tried to pass forward.

“There’s a lot of players you see who sit and pass it backwards and sideways, I could do that at 55, but he wants to play it forward, he wants to get the team going.

“Steven Gerrard was probably one of the best midfielders of his generation, as Frank was. So, if you can’t learn from Steven Gerrard, you can’t learn from anybody.

“I would question do they need him? They’re 23 points clear, aren’t they, Celtic have shown no signs of catching them. So, do they actually need him, does he need to go play against lesser teams, or should he test himself in the Premier League, or even the top of the Championship against tough teams.

“He’s a talented player and I’m sure if he’s not going to play for Chelsea they’ll let him go out on loan.”

Indeed, it’s easy to see why Rangers may be reluctant to push for a move. Steven Davis has established himself as a regular starter under Gerrard, scoring his first goal of the season in the 3-2 defeat to St Mirren in the Scottish League Cup.

But Bongani Zungu has struggled to make an impact at Ibrox after his switch from French Ligue 2 side Amiens. The 28-year-old has yet to score for the Gers and is posing a dilemma for Gerrard.

However, Ryan Jack’s return from injury could throw a spanner in the works. The Scotland international has become one of Gerrard’s most trusted deputies in the engine room, having made over a hundred appearances in all competitions.

Diego Aguirre ainda não está totalmente satisfeito com o que Robinho e Juan Cazares apresentaram nos jogos do Atlético-MG. – Eles tentaram e pegaram um bom ritmo, o que era necessário. Eles têm de continuar trabalhando para estarem prontos para todas as coisas importantes que teremos pela frente, porque eles equiparar os dias que perderam no começo – declarou.

Nesta quarta-feira (2), o Atlético volta a campo para enfrentar o América-MG, pela terceira rodada do Grupo C da Primeira Liga. A equipe ainda tem condição de se classificar, mas depende de um triunfo por três ou mais gols e um revés do Figueirense contra o Flamengo. Aguirre admitiu a possibilidade de escalar os titulares no compromisso.
