وقال ميدو في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر قناة “المحور”: “نستطيع التغلب على منتخب السنغال والتأهل لكأس العالم وهي مباراة في المتناول، شرط أن نكون في أعلى مستوى لينا على جميع النواحي والتركيز على إنهاء المباراة في القاهرة”.

وتابع: “مفتاح العبور إلى كأس العالم هو الظهور بشكل قوي في كأس أمم إفريقيا أن نكون متفائلين ولا نستبق الأحداث، طبيعي أن يكون هناك حديثًا عن مواجهة السنغال في تصفيات المونديال ولكن مفتاح العبور إلى كأس العالم هو الذهاب بعيدًا في كأس أمم إفريقيا”.

وأردف: “نحتاج بناء جسر من الثقة للتأهل إلى كأس العالم وهذا لن يحدث سوى بنتائج قوية في كأس الأمم والفوز على كوت ديفوار والذهاب على الأقل إلى نصف النهائي”.

واستطرد: “المباريات في إفريقيا أصبحت كلها صعبة وقرعة تصفيات كأس العالم تثبت ذلك، المنتخبات كلها قوية، ويجب أن نكون مستعدين من الناحية الذهنية بالشكل الأمثل”.

واختتم: “الجيل الحالي يحتاج لإعادة بناء جسر الثقة مع الجماهير بعبور كوت ديفوار والعمل على الظهور بشكل مميز في كأس الأمم هذا سيساعدنا كثيرا أمام السنغال في تصفيات المونديال”.

يذكر، أن منتخب مصر أمام كوت ديفوار مساء الأربعاء المقبل ضمن منافسات دور الـ16 لبطولة الأمم الإفريقية.

Whether it’s sorting out a blotchy defence or finding a successor for Scott Brown, there will be no shortage of clean up jobs. Another thing they’ll need to address is potential outgoings.

One of those regularly linked with a move away is Odsonne Edouard. Leicester, West Ham and Liverpool have all been interested in the Frenchman over recent months and it now feels inevitable that he’ll walk through the exit door.

If he does stay at Parkhead, however, it would be huge news. Edouard has scored 20 goals this season and is their undisputed top scorer and best player.

He has had very little help in the goal department this term, though, so an addition in the summer would be welcome. A player who ticks all the boxes is Kristijan Lovric.

Celtic had a bid rejected for his services in the winter window of 2019/20 before they renewed their pursuit last summer. A deal wasn’t concluded but we believe they should reignite their interest once more.

That’s because the 25-year-old has been magnificent for Gorica in the top-flight of Croatian football this season.

Lovric has netted 16 times and has also created five goals in 2020/21. He is the ultimate winger, someone who uses pace and trickery to get the best of his marker.

Speaking about the Croatian last term, HNTV commentator Damir Petravic gave him the ultimate compliment: “He dribbles and scores in the style of Robben.”

Indeed, Lovric has amassed five dribbles 5.37 successful attacking actions on average each 90 minutes this term.

For a player like Edouard, this has the potential to be game-changing. The 22-year-old has still been in the goals this season but the thought of him playing alongside someone like Lovric is a mouth-watering prospect.

The supply line to Edouard hasn’t been too impressive this term. One of their chief creators in James Forrest has only just returned from a lay-off that’s kept him out since September while no one has more assists than Ryan Christie’s eight.

Considering only three of those have been provided in his last 16 games, an upgrade is needed.

Lovric could well be that man. In the process, he’d improve the supply line to Edouard and ultimately give him more opportunities to score.

Consider how well the Croat beats a man and it would open up increased space in the final third. He feels like an ideal addition this summer.

The key, however, is actually keeping Edouard in Glasgow. That will be the real challenge.

– Foi um susto muito grande. Estava em Minas, pronto para jogar. Mas recebi a notícia de que ela teve uma trombose, correu risco de morte. Agradeço pela compreensão da torcida, da diretoria. Pude fazer, depois, a partida com o América-MG. Dou graças a Deus pelo livramento – disse.

Noel Whelan is confident that Leeds United will spend up to £100m this summer as they look to go up another level in the Premier League.

The Whites have enjoyed a good first season back in the top flight, currently occupying 11th place in the table and arguably never looking relegation-threatened.

Marcelo Bielsa will know that he can’t afford to rest on his laurels, however, with new signings expected to be made in the summer transfer window.

The hope will be that Leeds can jump from being a mid-table team to pushing towards the European places in 2021/22, but only with reinforcements will that be likely to happen.

Whelan expects Leeds to spend big this summer

Speaking to Football Insider, former Leeds striker Whelan said he firmly believes the plan is to spend up to £100m in order to meet those aforementioned goals. He said:

“I’ve heard about this big investment from the 49ers. That’s not gone on the field, it’s gone to balance the books and cover expenses.

“So the losses don’t worry me. Everyone’s posting big losses. Some are going to be double ours, quite frankly.

“I don’t think it will have much impact on transfer plans in the summer.

“The board realise they are going to have to spend £80-100m each season if they are going to be successful, if they are going to break into that top six. That’s the plan.”

This summer feels like a pivotal one at Elland Road, with Leeds in a position where they can really push on, assuming they do the right business.

Failure to build upon this strong campaign but would be hugely disappointing, but having funds available to make new signings should only be a good thing for the Whites.

Former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie has exclusively told Football FanCast that he wants Callum McGregor to stay at Parkhead, but admitted he’s good enough to play in the Premier League.

Likes many of his Celtic teammates, McGregor’s form has dipped this season, although he’s still started every Scottish Premiership match, and has worn the captain’s armband in the absence of Scott Brown.

With Brown moving on at the end of the campaign, McGregor would be the obvious choice to take the armband on a full-time basis, but the midfielder has been strongly linked away from Parkhead.

Reports earlier this month have suggested that McGregor’s former manager and current Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is plotting a summer move for the midfielder, which would see the pair reunite following their stint in Glasgow.

McGregor is currently tied down to a long-term contract at Celtic, although McAvennie told Football FanCast that he’s the only Celtic man that’s capable of making the step up to the Premier League:

“At the moment he’s the only one that could make it in the Premier League. We don’t know if he wants to leave or not, but it’s never come out too much about McGregor.

“He’s not played well since he got the captaincy, but I think he’s a wonderful talent and I want him to stay.”
