أعلن نادي روما الإيطالي تعاقده رسميًا مع الدولي الصربي، نيمانيا ماتيتش، صاحب الـ33 عامًا بعد انتهاء عقده مع مانشستر يونايتد.

اللاعب الصربي لعب مع مانشستر يونايتد 5 سنوات وبعد نهاية عقده قرر الرحيل، ليجد جوزيه مورينيو مدربه السابق يطلبه من جديد، ويُلبي النداء.

ووقع اللاعب الصربي عقدًا مع الفريق الإيطالي حتى 30 يونيو 2023، لمدة موسم ينتهي الصيف المقبل في ملعب أوليمبكو.

وقال ماتيتش: “أنا سعيد وفخور بالانضمام إلى النادي ولا أطيق الانتظار لبدء الموسم مع زملائي الجدد”.

وأضاف: “روما نادٍ رائع ولديهم جماهير رائعة، ومدرب يعرفه الجميع، اختيار المجيء إلى هنا كان سهلًا، آمل أن نتمكن جميعًا من العمل معًا بشكل جيد”.

ماتيتش ينضم إلى مورينيو للمرة الثالثة، بعدما تعاقد معه عندما كان في تشيلسي قادمًا من بنفيكا، قبل أن يطلبه جوزيه أيضًا في مانشستر يونايتد، والآن مع روما.

The South Africans continued to move into one-day gear with a four-wicket win against England Lions at Grace Road, led by an impressive return from Dale Steyn and Herschelle Gibbs’ 81. They chased a disappointing Lions total of 184 with more than 11 overs to spare,although a flurry of late wickets made the margin look less impressive.The performances of Steyn and Gibbs were especially timely for the tourists. Steyn was working his way back after missing the last two Tests with a broken thumb and Gibbs only recently joined the tour as a one-day specialist. Steyn took the first wicket of the day, bowling Joe Denly, and returned to grab two more later on as the Lions fell away from 107 for 2.Gibbs then made significant inroads into the target with his 104-ball innings, although the performances of his team-mates were less convincing. Hashim Amla and Justin Ontong both failed while AB de Villiers and JP Duminy fell in the 20s. Gibbs provided more than half the runs while he was at the crease but when he was removed by Luke Wright the South Africans couldn’t quite finish off the match in style.Wright, whose role for the upcoming one-dayers is uncertain, put his hand forward for more bowling duties by cleaning up Duminy and Steve Kirby added to his early wicket of Amla with Albie Morkel’s scalp. However, Vernon Philander and stand-in captain Johan Botha completed the job in the 39th over.Given the recent wet weather around the country it wasn’t surprising that this became a low-scoring match. However, the Lions looked poised for a more commanding total after Robert Key and Ravi Bopara carried them past hundred. Noel Whelan has offered his thoughts on Kurt Zouma’s possible move to West Ham this month.

What’s the talk?

Former Premier League forward Noel Whelan has suggested that West Ham could be an ideal destination for Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma. Whelan has said that the Hammers being in London and playing in the Europa League could make them the perfect place for the ‘dominant’ centre-back.

He told Football Insider:

“It’s a club in Europe, a club that, whatever he would be paid, (he) would be one of their first-choice centre-halves.

“The transition is already there when it comes to English football. He’s been here a long, long time now. He is a very dominant centre-half, there’s no doubt about that.

“A very powerful player, very good in the air and dangerous and committed in both areas, going forward and defending.

“I think it’d be an easy transition. He’s probably not going to be needing to move home.”

These comments came after Sky Sports reported that West Ham and Tottenham are keen on a deal for the defender, who is reportedly valued at £25m by Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Moyes needs him

GSB needs to get this deal done before the end of the window. They need to pay up the £25m and pounce on this opportunity to add Zouma to David Moyes’ squad as he could be a phenomenal addition to the team.

The French international is experienced and proven in the Premier League, whilst also still relatively young by centre-back standards at the age of 26. This means that he could come in and have an instant impact on the team whilst also having the potential to develop further and become a key player for the club for many years to come.

Last season, Angelo Ogbonna was West Ham’s highest-rated centre-back on WhoScored. He achieved a rating of 6.73 for his performances, putting him ahead of Fabian Balbuena (6.71) Craig Dawson (6.67) and Issa Diop (6.64) in the pecking order.

The Italian won 2.3 aerial battles and made 1.1 interceptions per game in the Premier League. Zouma, meanwhile, averaged a WhoScored rating of 7.07 as he won 3.6 aerial battles and made 1.2 interceptions per game. This suggests that the Frenchman could come in and be an immediate upgrade on what Moyes already has at his disposal.

Moyes also needs Zouma because of his age and the age of his other options. Balbuena, Dawson and Ogbonna will all be 30 or older by the end of the month and Diop, 24, only started 15 matches last term.

This means that the Scot is in need of a younger defender who can come in and be a regular starter for the next four or five years, as the other options in the squad begin to enter the final years of their career. At the age of 26, Zouma would be exactly what he needs.

We have reminded them for a new date. I am confident and well prepared for defending Asif now.”Asif had asked for his B sample to be analysed after it was revealed in July that his sample taken during the IPL had tested positive for a banned substance.
