Sadly, when a club the size of Barca comes along, it can be hard for any player to turn them down, despite their own struggles at the moment.

Emerson Royal put in his best performance since joining Tottenham Hotspur this summer as they defeated Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Brazilian right-back was drafted in on deadline day, signing in a €30m (£26m) deal from Barcelona, and finally, the north London outfit caught a glimpse of exactly what he had to offer.

In a game where Heung-min Son excelled with two assists and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg ran the show from the engine room, it was the 22-year-old defender who was an unsung hero for Nuno Santo and his side.

No player recorded more touches of the ball than Emerson (86) as he was a constant threat down that right flank.

Not only was he a rock defensively but he also got up the pitch to contribute in the final third.

As per SofaScore, Emerson recorded a match-high four interceptions, helping thwart the threat of wing-back Matt Target and Danny Ings, who was on his side in Villa’s two-man attack. He also made six clearances, two tackles and won a whopping ten duels.

The Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick wrote in his post-match ratings column:

“A promising showing after a tough start in the Premier League. Committed and aggressive defensively and got forward well, creating a big chance for Son at the start of the second half.”

ووفقًا للصفحة الرسمية للاتحاد المصري فإن الجلسة بين عامر حسين وفيتوريا جاءت من أجل التنسيق للمرحلة المقبلة والخاصة بتوقفات المنتخب في الموسم المقبل.

كما شهدت الجلسة تقديم عامر حسين شرحًا تفصيليًا لتوقفات المنتخب في الفترة الماضية والتي وصلت لـ108 أيام بسبب الارتباطات الخاصة ببطولة أمم افريقيا، التي أقيمت في الكاميرون ثم التصفيات النهائية المؤهلة لكأس العالم ثم التصفيات المؤهلة لأمم إفريقيا والبطولة العربية التي أقيمت بقطر.

كما تم التطرق خلال الجلسة للمرحلة المقبلة، ودوري الموسم الجديد ومعرفة طلبات البرتغالي روي فيتوريا وهو ما سيتم الإعلان عنه خلال الفترة القادمة.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard will be hoping for another happy weekend as the Gers take on Hearts in the Premiership on Saturday.

A win for the Gers, though, would see them move four points clear at the top and in a comfortable position heading into the next few weeks.

In order to give Rangers the best possible chance of winning this weekend, Gerrard must get his starting XI selection spot-on. This means he could have some big decisions to make, one of which is regarding who starts between the sticks…

Allan McGregor started the 2-1 win over Hibernian, but the £13k-per-week dud has endured a difficult season in the league. He has a save percentage of just 50% in the Premiership for Rangers, which is the joint-lowest in the division.

Gabriel Agbonlahor recently claimed that such ropey form is to be expected at the age of 39 and that he will still be able to produce quality displays.

He told Football Insider: “At McGregor’s age, you’re going to get those moments when you’re in and out of the team.

“He’s been a great servant to the game, a great servant to Rangers. So, I’m sure that he’ll play his fair share of games for Rangers and they’ll still get some good performances out of him.”

Whilst McGregor may still be able to perform well at times, as Abgonlahor has said, his form so far this season suggests that he is a liability to the team. Gerrard cannot afford to have an inconsistent goalkeeper between the sticks as it could affect the confidence of the defence and cause issues at the back in key matches.

Jon McLaughlin has kept two clean sheets in four appearances and has a save percentage of 71.4%. This suggests that he has been superior in goal for the Gers in comparison to McGregor this season, which is why Gerrard must axe the veteran shot-stopper to play the former Sunderland man.

Therefore, the 34-year-old should be handed the gloves for this important match as he has shown he is a more in-form ‘keeper. Gerrard must axe McGregor in order to play McLaughlin as the 39-year-old has been a liability and Rangers need to maintain their place at the top of the table this weekend.

Foi por pouco. O Flamengo passou sufoco na Vila Belmiro e correu um sério risco de ser eliminado da Copa do Brasil. O time rubro-negro foi derrotado por 4 a 2, o que obviamente não agradou ao técnico Zé Ricardo. Ele lamentou a pressão sofrida na Vila Belmiro e tentou explicar a mistura de sentimentos com a classificação garantida, porém com uma derrota amarga.

-Estamos com um misto de alegria, mas também com um pouco de frustração porque a classificação poderia ter sido mais tranquila.Decepcionado nunca, mas ficamos chateados pela forma como foi, a gente viu a possibilidade de ter uma classificação mais tranquila. No fundo, no fundo, foi merecida a nossa classificação – ponderou o comandante rubro-negro, que avaliou o rendimento da equipe na casa do Peixe.

-Lógico que não estamos satisfeitos com o rendimento da equipe por ter tomado quatro gols. Foi uma partida que poderíamos ter tido mais controle, controle emocional também. -Muralha vinha fazendo treinos em alto nível, achamos que era o momento dele retornar. Acho que ele foi bem.Não queremos individualizar nenhum tipo de erro ou (achar) culpado – comentou o técnico.
