Craig Hope has delivered a twist regarding Paulo Fonseca’s mooted appointment as the next Newcastle United manager.

Newcastle are reportedly ready to offer Fonseca a contract after holding talks with him, but this update from Hope provides a twist to the tale, as all may not be as it seems.

This update from Hope will surely leave Newcastle supporters feeling excited about what could be to come in the next few weeks. Hope’s tweet indicates that other names could still be under consideration by the Saudi Arabian consortium, which suggests that they may think they can do even better than Fonseca. That, of course, is assuming that any issue with the deal is not coming from the Portuguese’s side of the camp and is down to PIF deciding that they want to explore all their options.

Fonseca has managed Porto, Braga, Shakhtar Donetsk and Roma throughout his career. He averaged an exceptional 2.37 points per game across 139 matches as he won three league titles with Shakhtar, whilst winning 1.77 points per game with Roma in Serie A. This shows that he can do an impressive job at the top level with some high-profile clubs, which is why Newcastle fans should be excited about the standard of manager at whom PIF are looking as a possible alternative to him.

Steve Bruce’s departure has left a vacant seat in the dugout at St James’ Park and fans may well be enjoying the speculation over the big names who could come in and lead the club back to the glory days. وذكرت صحيفة “توتو سبورت” الإيطالية أن يوفنتوس توصل إلى اتفاق مع ديباي بالفعل حول الشروط الشخصية للصفقة.

وذكرت الصحيفة أن ديباي طلب من برشلونة السماح له بالرحيل إلى يوفنتوس بالمجان، ولكن برشلونة لم يوافق على ذلك إذ يريد الحصول على أموال من عملية بيعه.

ومن جانبها ذكرت صحيفة “سبورت” الكتالونية أن برشلونة لا يريد أن يتحمل أي تكاليف في صفقة ديباي، وربما يوافق النادي على رحيله بالمجان ولكن مقابل عدم مطالبة الهولندي بالجزء المُتبقي من راتبه، أو يقدم يوفنتوس عرضًا لشرائه وهو ما يريد النادي الإيطالي فعله أيضًا.

ديباي لديه اتفاق بالتوقيع لمدة عامين مع يوفنتوس، مع راتب سنوي قدره 5 ملايين يورو، بالإضافة إلى مليون ونصف يورو أخرى كمكافأة.

This is a must-win match for both sides. A loss to India at Trent Bridge has left Bangladesh needing to beat Ireland in order to move to the Super Eights. Ireland play their first match of the tournament and for them this is essentially a knock-out game, as they will play India next.Bangladesh will be wary of Ireland in this format, given that they shocked them in round two of the 2007 World Cup in Barbados, and also because Netherlands showed that anything is possible in Twenty20. Bangladesh also know Ireland are more familiar with the conditions.This is the first time Ireland are up against a professional side in this format and they’ll need to relocate the form of their 2007 World Cup campaign if they are to progress. What they lack in experience they can make up for in determination and can also look at emulating the performances of the similarly unseeded Netherlands and Scotland.Ireland have a real chance of beating Bangladesh due to their experience of conditions and the accurate and tide seam bowlers in their ranks. An update has emerged on Manchester United midfield Donny van de Beek, regarding Newcastle’s interest in his services.

According to The Metro, the Magpies are one of three teams tracking his situation at Old Trafford, with Everton and Juventus also keeping tabs on him.

The report claims that the Red Devils are open to letting the £35m midfielder leave in January and are willing to sanction a loan or permanent switch.

Unlock Willock

Newcastle’s owners, PIF, could pull off a masterstroke by signing van de Beek from Manchester United as it could help to unlock the goalscoring talents of Joe Willock.

The club’s only senior addition in the summer was the signing of Willock on a permanent deal from Arsenal for a reported fee of £26.46m. This came after he scored a sensational eight goals in 11 Premier League starts for the Magpies on loan in the second half of the 2020/21 campaign.

Instead of continuing his fine form, the ex-Gunner has failed to score in eight league matches for Newcastle and nine games in all competitions. He has been unable to reach his previous goalscoring heights and that is why the signing of van de Beek could be crucial.

Last season, United legend Rio Ferdinand claimed that he has the ability to help other players shine. He told BT Sport (via Tribal Football):

“I think he is the one player in this squad who is happy playing one-touch, two-touch, keeping it simple… sacrificing parts of his game to help other people flourish.

“In any great team you need players like that and he’s one player who will make other players tick, and make them play better.”

This suggests that signing the £100k-per-week beast could allow Willock to thrive in midfield alongside him and return to his goalscoring best.

Van de Beek recorded 19 assists in his final two seasons for Ajax and his unselfish play in the midfield could unlock the English youngster and end up forming a formidable partnership for the Magpies in the middle of the park.

Therefore, PIF must ensure that they are able to get a deal over the line for the Dutchman in January.

A loan with an option to sign him permanently in the summer could be an ideal move, with Newcastle able to see if he can help Willock flourish whilst also catching the eye himself in the top-flight before committing to a permanent switch.
